1. Introduction to GEMS Certification
Australia and New Zealand issued the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Bill 2012 (GEMS), which came into effect on October 1, 2012. Australia and New Zealand will use the energy efficiency certification GEMS certification to replace the previous Australian energy efficiency MEPS certification.
GEMS certification is a compulsory certification. Products under control must have GEMS certification before they can be sold in the market, and the applicant must be a company registered in Australia.
2. GEMS certified product range
At present, the products controlled by GEMS certification include: external power supply, TV, digital set-top box, dishwasher, etc.
3. GEMS certification standards for common products
1. Power adapter: AS/NZS 4665;
2. Information, audio and video products (except set-top boxes and TV sets) AS/NZS 62087.1;
3. Set-top box: AS/NZS 62087.1, AS/NZS 62087.2.1;
4. TV: AS/NZS 62087.1, AS/NZS 62087.2.2

Countries requiring factory inspections are usually required, but CIG 023 factory inspection reports are usually acceptable
5. GEMS certification process
1. Select products for testing, and the standards for testing are consistent with the original MEPS certification. Generally speaking, as long as the test reports provided by ISO 17025 accredited laboratories can be recognized;
2. Submit the test report and other materials for GEMS registration, and the GEMS certification will be obtained after the materials are reviewed and approved. The new GEMS regulations mainly have new requirements for registration. Applicants cannot choose a single state for registration, but are unified to the Australian Regulator for registration, and according to the product category, the registration period is 5 years.
