Recently, many power supply customers have inquired about exporting to Australia certification. The ANCI editor has collected and sorted out some relevant information, let's learn about it together!
It is reported that EESS Australia will publish a new information bulletin (#21-030) in June 2021 to help understand the correct relevant standards for power supplies and battery chargers (electrical equipment in the low voltage range). The standard comes into effect on June 15, 2021, with a one-year transition period ending on June 15, 2022.
The following are six main product categories:
1. General purpose power adapter The
relevant safety standard is AS/NZS 61558.2.6, and the switching power supply is AS/NZS 61558.2.16.
The certificate and instruction manual do not need to specify any specific brand or type of equipment to be used with the power adapter.
2. The relevant safety standards for power adapters with specific Class III structural appliances are
the relevant AS/NZS 60335 series of standards for electrical appliances (power adapters and Class III equipment). To be tested against AS/NZS 60335.1 and related part 2)
Certificate and instruction manual must specify the brand and type of equipment to be used with
the power adapter
The standard is AS/NZS 60065 or AS/NZS 60950.1 (both will be replaced by AS/NZS 62368.1 on February 15, 2022) The
certificate and instruction manual need to specify the brand and type of equipment used with the power adapter
4, with lighting Equipment supply/power adapter for lighting equipment
Relevant safety standards:
a. Electronic type:
- Light emitting semiconductor driver: AS/NZS61347.2.13
- Other: AS/NZS 61347.2.2
b. Ferromagnetic type: AS/NZS 61558.2.6
The type used with the power adapter should be specified on the certificate and instruction manual (if it is sold with other equipment, the brand of the equipment must also be provided)
5. The relevant safety standard for battery chargers
is AS/NZS 60335.2.29
The certificate and instruction manual need to specify the type of battery to be charged by the battery charger
6, the battery charger equipped with specific electronic (ITE, audio, video) equipment The
relevant safety standard is AS/NZS 62368.1 or AS/NZS 60335.2.29
if using AS /NZS 62368.1, the certificate and instruction manual need to specify the brand and type of equipment that will use the battery charger The
following conditions apply to the transition agreement:
For change applications, this requirement will be implemented from June 15, 2022 transition period), except those involving the addition of new models. Transitional arrangements may also apply if test reports have been issued before the announcement date (reports issued before 15 June 2021).
Therefore, this requirement will not be enforced for new applications and renewal applications with test reports issued before June 15, 2021.
